Remi Afolabi top tips for Nice

Stylist Remi Afolabi (intsa handle: @remiafolabi) gives us her top tips for Nice, a city tucked away in the south-east corner of France. Nice is a hotspot for tourists around the world, a result of its beautiful weather year-round and abundance of things to see and do.
Prism have compiled a list of must-see’s if you get the chance to visit Nice…

THE BEACH

With the weather never dipping below twenty degrees during the summer months in Nice, a visit to the beach is a must. Nice boasts one of the longest beaches of the French Riveria, a pebbly rather than sandy beach that still attracts masses of tourists.

COURS SALEYA

Cours Saleya is a vibrant market located in Nice’s Old Town. The Flower Market is worth mentioning, it is held Thursday through until Sunday, selling a wide variety of flowers alongside fruit and vegetables. Sellers frequently tempt passers-by with samples and by presenting their fruit in an artistic way, meaning this market is perfect for both lunch and a cool instagram post.

Museum of Contemporary Art (MAMAC)

Museums are everywhere in Nice, some covering art from the last four centuries (Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nice) whilst others are devoted solely to the cities’ architecture (Musee D'Archeologie). All are unique in their own way but the MAMAC is probably the most popular due to its modern focus. It is less than twenty minutes from the beach-front, being located in the heart of the city. It contains art-work from Europe and America from the 1950s to present-day and holds a number of exciting exhibitions, meaning it is definitely worth a visit.

CASTLE HILL

Castle Hill (La colline du château) is a park filled with beautiful Mediterranean trees, a waterfall, ruins and lookouts, however, sadly no castle. It is a long and tough climb but worth it, with the very top allowing visitors an amazing view of the city in its entirety.

LE VIEUX PORT (OLD PORT)

The Old Port is perfect for a stroll, where you can sit and watch the boats or grab some food in the many cafés and restaurants dotted along it’s front.

SHOPPING

Let’s not forget France is one of the most fashionable countries, boasting successful designers like Chanel, Dior and Hermes. In terms of shopping in Nice, there is a lot of places to choose from. Avenue Jean Medecin is the most popular, a street containing two malls and a number of high end-stores. It is effectively the equivalent of London’s Oxford Street.
